Baseball Game and Water Park

We made another road trip this weekend. We met Jill and her family in Dallas. What a great weekend.

The boys got in plenty of swimming. On Saturday, we went to McKinney and had breakfast at Betty's, a neat little café there with a great breakfast buffet. Then it was on to some of the stores in that area, and of course a drive by Jill and Kip's old house. Then we headed back to Frisco and went on a shopping spree. With the kids begging to go swim the whole time. Kallie made a cute little bear named Frisco. We got back to the hotel and they had an hour to swim before we headed off to the baseball game.

The Frisco Rough Riders were playing the Midland Rockhounds. It’s a neat little baseball park, very hot though. They have a roping dummy set up behind one of the concessions and the boys surprised the cowgirl when they roped like professionals. Even Kallie got in on it. Trevor and Taylor got some autographs and there were a couple times Jill and I thought we'd get an autograph of a baseball on our heads. (We were right in the foul territory.) Everyone won a free t-shirt by picking out which board was Hardi-plank in a contest.



The next day we headed to the water park in Denton. It’s a nice size park, with a couple slides, a lazy river, a kids area and two indoor pools. Landon enjoyed his first water park as we floated along the lazy river. Kallie had a great time in the kids area and floating along with Jill and Kip in the river. I think Taylor lapped us a couple times. Bryan, Kip and Trevor spent most of the time on the slides. I'm sure all the kids slept great on the way home.

We had a great weekend, nice and relaxing. Kallie kept pointing at Landon and asking us "What's her name?" "Oh, that's Landon." We couldn't figure out why she kept asking…until Bryan explained that's what people usually say to kids…"Oh, what's your name?" So she had just picked up on it and decided that's what needed to be said. Too smart. She wanted to hold Landon all weekend, they were too cute together.

Sleep, Then No Sleep

After sleeping a good 6 hours three nights ago, the last two nights have been anything but...Two nights ago, he had horrible gas, the poor baby. We didn't get any sleep. About five minutes and then he'd be up squirming. Even after Mylicon - no help. Last night, he slept about 4 hours starting around 10, and then was up from 2:30 on. Needless to say, I'm exhausted.

But he's such a good baby I can't be upset about two nights. At volleyball this week, he's just talked and smiled at everyone. No fussing at all. He's so much like his dad. Makes me scared to have another one - might be like his mother. SCARY. He'd come out with attitude.

I'm going to Sugarland today to get my veneer. (If you remember, I broke one of my front veneers off during birth - too much teeth grinding.) And after one trip out there (its an hour from here) to find out the replacement wasn't any good, I'm headed back out hoping this one works. I think I'm also scheduled for a cleaning, but they should be proud of me, since Landon's birth, I've picked up a habit of flossing. What a difference that makes. Yeah, it's a pain, but what a nice feeling.

Landon's still a little head wobbly. We've been working on that and tummy time. On his belly he kicks and kicks with his legs, but really has no desire to put any weight on his arms. Now holding him, he LOVES to stand up. He thinks he's five years old already.

And have I mentioned the hair loss? Oh yeah, its getting worse. Every where I look more hair, at this rate, I'll be bald by next weekend. I have pretty thick hair, so it may actually feel a little better, cooler, you know. And I've ready its normal, and that it'll stop around 30 weeks post partum. So, what, only, 20 more weeks of losing hair. Gross. Why hair loss? Why not fat loss? LOL.

Catching Up

Been a while since I posted...so let's see.

Went to Florida for Memorial Day to see the in-laws. The visit went well, I got some time to sleep while Grandma Rhodes watched the baby which was very nice. We got to see all the family. There's two other babies, one 6 weeks older than Landon and one 4 weeks older. Too cute.

On the ride back (12 hour road trip) Landon started to get fussy. By about hour 8, he was running a fever (did I mention I had gotten sick on the way up there.) Poor baby, ran a fever most of the night. I went in to the doctor the next day and tested positive for strep. Great. Landon went to his doctor and had the beginnings of an ear infection. So now we're both on Amoxicillian (sp?) But after a week of medicine, we're both doing great.

We found the BUMBO seat at Target. What a great invention. He can sit up great in it. We set him on our vanity in the mornings to get ready. He just sits and talks to himself in the mirror. So adorable.

He's up to 9 pounds 9 ounces and 22.5 inches long. He has to go back this week to get his immunizations (since he was sick last week.)

And have I said how much he loves bath time? Loves it. Oh, and he slept 6 hours on Sunday night. IN HIS BASSINET!!!

Okay, so I'm not going to wait this long to update...just too much to remember.

Conversation

Landon just gets more cute by the day. Yesterday on the way home from daycare, we had the best conversation. He talks and talks now. It so cute. And yesterday, he did that little squeal thing...too cute. Of course, this morning at 4 am when he decided to spit up down all over my chest (could he just have gotten the pajamas? No, had to be on the skin - 4am shower, nice.)

I also packed up his preemie and newborn outfits. I can't believe he was that small. He's already grown so much. That boy is going to be TALL.

Bad news, I developed mastitis. I thought I had the flu or something, ran a fever all day Sunday and Monday, with aches. Then my breast started hurting. I was engorged when I woke up on Sunday, but didn't think much about it, just pumped and thought that help with the pain. Well, later I realized I had a huge red spot on my breast, and then started getting sick. I'm trying to nurse/pump as often as I can. I'm feeling much MUCH better today. No aches, no fever. Just tenderness and pain on the right breast.

Oh, speaking of...time to nurse.

Mornings = Smiles

Now, don't get me wrong, I'd love to be able to sleep a couple (five) extra hours, but when I finally am fully awake, little Landon is so sweet. He loves his mornings. Especially after bath time. He just sits and smiles and laughs while I get ready. We put his travel swing in the master bathroom so he can be in there while we get ready. For some reason, he will only look at us in the mirror. Too cute.

He's doing great at day care. When we go in and he hears the other kids babbling, he just starts smiling. That makes me feel oh so much better. Of course, he's going through about three suits a day there. All the kids there are so cute. I can't imagine that in just a few weeks, months, he'll be one of those kids, crawling around pulling up on the toys.

I'm back into running. I've got my training all mapped out. Now its just finding the time to do it. I know that I just had a baby, but while I'm running, I just can't believe how hard it is for me. I can barely finish what used to be such an easy distance. Oh well, got to start somewhere.

I think I'm going to work a deal with my husband this weekend. One night, he can have Landon and bottles and I'm going to sleep in the guest room. Yes, I realize I'll be grossly engorged to the size of watermelons in the morning, but oh, to have six hours of sleep.

Off to Day Care

Well, yesterday was Landon's first day of daycare. The teachers are great, and there are so many cute little kids there. He started the day off with a good breakfast, then Dad gave him a bath while Mom got ready. He was wide awake, talking and laughing all morning. He fell asleep on the way and stayed asleep while we handed him over to Miss Inez. And I only cried once I got to the car...just for a little bit, okay, the whole way to work, but I made it through the day okay.

I picked Landon up around 4:30, he was wide awake, and looked like he may have been awake the whole day. He talked and played with us until about 7, when he zonked out. Bryan finally had to wake him up at midnight to eat. I think he definitely had a full day. He was up again this morning, bright eyed and talking. But was pretty sleepy by the time I left him in his crib at school.

We should get internet access to the day care sometime this week. Its probably a good thing I can't see his first few days…I'd probably be over there as soon as I saw him cry (I know you're all laughing because you know he doesn't cry.)

He also had his first play date this weekend. Bryan, Landon and I met our friends Sandy and her son, and Kim and her daughter out at Kemah. Of course, Landon slept while the other two rode the Merry-Go-Round, the airplanes and the train.

I can't believe how big he's getting. Bryan measured him…he's around nine pounds and 23 inches now. Almost out of size newborn clothes. I look back at his first pictures and can't believe he isn't that small anymore. He's definitely putting on a little chubbiness. His smiles and little ga-ga's are just so cute. He'll be saying his A-B-Cs in no time.

Jogging Stroller

We took the jogger for a spin last night. Landon and I ran two miles, Bryan went on for three. It was nice outside, so we dressed Landon in a sleeper and put a hat on him...he did great. We ran on the road, so it wasn't too bumpy for him. He's such a good baby. Of course, after running I was exhausted, so I think I may have to master the lying down BF position. I tried it this morning, I didn't think it was too comfortable, but I probably need some work on it.

I can't believe how much he's already grown. We're going to daycare today to let him meet his teachers. I know, I know, Monday is going to be so hard for me. But I'm really happy with the daycare we're using. And its close so if I have a panic attack I can run right over there and see my little stinker.

Bryan and I did half days this week...Bryan taking the morning. He did really well with Landon, even giving him a bath all by himself. With the pumping, its so much easier to go out and get things done since we always have a bottle on hand.

Airplane Trip

Yes, Landon had his first plane ride yesterday. We flew out to visit Grandpa (my dad.) Bryan's driving up tonight and then we'll head out tomorrow to see the rest of the family.

Landon was perfect on the plane. We didn't purchase a ticket, but the plane wasn't full, so I was able to use his carseat. He slept through the whole thing. We had the front seat and nobody sat with us - who would want to sit by an infant on a plane? Little did they know, I have a perfect baby.

Grandpa was waiting for us when we got off. He fed Landon a bottle and then we headed up to the school to get GJ (my stepmom) for lunch. Landon's been great. We went to see my brother's football practice last night, and to show off the baby. Another bottle before bed and Landon was good.



The pumping is going much better, as is the breast feeding. I guess since we're getting used to it, and I'm not engorged all the time, my breasts are having an easier time with it. Thank goodness.

Newborn Diapers

Well, I think we may have purchased our last bag of newborn pampers last night. At least that's what I'm thinking right now. Landon's still wearing newborn clothes (most of which are still a little big.) Speaking of diapers, Pampers Swaddlers rock! I'm not so much a fan of Huggies...but I have heard that the Target brand is pretty good, though they don't carry newborn, so we'll have to wait to see.

I'm also on my second box of breast pads - now that's an expensive habit. But what are you going to do? You have to buy them...

Little stinker was fast asleep this morning so I decided to get up to pump, man the mornings hurt. Of course, as soon as I got situated, Mr. Landon decides to wakes up. Its like they can sense when we've started something we need to do without holding a baby - pumping, going to the bathroom, eating, taking a shower. They're like, Wait, I sense that I'm not the sole center of attention now - I better wake up and start crying, get that attention back.

Oh, and on our shopping trip to Wal-Mart last night, I found mylicon that's dye free. Hello - good idea. Who thinks its a good idea to dye infant medicine pink? Are you crazy? We got another set of socks too...the Carter's Child of Mine socks are great. They actually stay on Landon's skinny little feet.

Man - I type great one handed, huh. I hope computer screens can't damage an infants eyes, because Landon will be in trouble.

Thank goodness the weekend's here. It will be nice to have daddy at the house for the day.

Bottles...

So, we're gearing up to start feeding one bottle meal a day. I've been pumping for the past couple of days (man does it feel good to be empty.) I can not believe how many bottles / nipples we have to choose from. My sisters have used the disposable playtex with all their babies, so I assume we'll just go with that. Bryan's going to give Landon his lunch meal starting Saturday. Hopefully that will go well, we only have 3 weeks until I'm back at work, so we need Landon to get adjusted to a bottle soon.

Here's my sweet little boy in his hoodie - it was actually cold enough to wear this in April - nice.



He is so sweet and you can tell, he is getting chubbier. Yay, all the soreness is paying off, my baby's gettin' fat. =-)

One Month

Landon's four weeks. So, its basically been four weeks since I've posted - ha.

I love being a mother, most of the time. I have had a few painful nursing, where I really wished men could produce milk, but other than that, love it.

Landon's a great baby. He hardly ever cries, and if he does, its easily remedied. Since about two weeks he's been able to hold his head up and turn it to either side, while laying on his belly. Just in the last week, he's started following his toys and trying to hold them. He found his thumb about two weeks ago, but that entails putting his other four fingers over his eyes...



Easter was fun too. We met my cousin Kim and her family. Landon was still in preemie clothes for that. We went to a park, had some lunch and the kids hunted eggs.


We had a crawfish boil on Saturday, but Landon must have been going through a growth spurt, because we spent basically the whole day in the bedroom nursing.

He is just too cute. He's already getting chubby. His arms and legs are getting some fat on them...so precious.

Okay - so I know that wasn't much of an update, but its a start.

He's doing great. We're on the search for premmie clothes, he was down to 5 pounds 9 ounces and maybe has lost a little more since that weigh in. All his clothes swallow him right now. But he's still just sooooo cute. And such a good baby. He's asleep with his daddy in bed right now.
