My mom (Grammy) flew in on Thursday. Bryan picked her up at the airport, then I met them at Fudd's for a very late lunch. Grammy and I headed to day care. We picked up Landon and went to gymnastics. Grammy loved it, and so did Landon. He made her play with him in the little play area upstairs before his class started. During class, we really had to pay attention because Landon will stop in the middle of whatever he's doing to wave at us. And he won't continue until we wave back. While in the gym, a huge thunderstorm passed over, including small hail...but as we walked out of the gym, the sun was already back out.
I took a half day on Friday to pick up more party supplies. We stopped at Wal-mart to get a bicycle from Grammy to Landon. I took the generic 12inch bike off the rack. Landon climbed on and rode it up and down the isle. UNTIL he spotted a Hot Wheels bicycle. He jumped off that generic bike so fast, saying, "Guys, Guys, wait a minute! I need that one." As he proceeded to try to take down the Hot Wheels one himself. He was in heaven! He found a hot wheels helmet to match and rode the bike to the front of the store.
Saturday morning was LONG. I woke up around 4:30 and finally got out of bed around 5 and headed to wal-mart for a few more things. Oh how I love shopping at Wal-mart when no one else is there. Back to the house to prepare. Landon woke up around 8 and decided he wanted sprinkle doughnuts for his birthday breakfast (i was hoping for IHOP.) After Kolaches and doughnuts, back to the house. The wind was blowing, it was freezing. Bryan and I took off in different directions, leaving Grammy to cook. The moonwalk people came around noon. They were so polite! Great company. Landon's eyes were HUGE from the moment the Scooby inflatable got in his yard. He jumped for the two hours before his party. The sun finally came out and it warmed up (a little.)
Kids and friends started arriving around 2. Landon was so excited to see all his friends from school and to show them the jumper. The kids had snacks and watched Bolt for a little bit, but that didn't last long - it was back out to the moonwalk. We sat outside and talked and laughed. We had also rented a cotton candy machine. The wind was steady around 20 mph, with gusts a little higher. Bryan manned the cotton machine, and soon the whole neighborhood was covered in pink cotton candy (the pink tastes better - blue is gnasty.) Pinata time! Then off for cake and presents.
Lan is definitely
We finally cleaned up and sat down for a rest. Not two minutes in my lap and he was out.
Sunday, after church in Bellaire, we made the short trip to Galveston. Landon LOVES the sand. He almost had a meltdown because we wanted to eat lunch before we played,, but he eventually decided he needed some food too, and at least we could see the beach from our table. After delicious Saltgrass, we headed across the street. The winds from the previous day had died down, but it was still chilly. Mom and I tried everything we could to warm up. Landon and Bryan didn't even seem to notice the chill. (Later that evening, I realized I got a sunburn!)
Landon did have a great weekend. My boy is three now!
