Not just a Father

Landon is sick. Its been a while since he's been really, really sick. But this weekend, yeah, he got really, really sick. He ran a fever all weekend, had little appetite, but otherwise was bouncing off the walls.

Bry took him to the doctor yesterday. Sure enough, his throat was almost swollen shut. She took a throat culture, but went ahead and prescribed antibiotics, cough syrup and more motrin as needed.

Bry loves Landon. He loves being a dad. Loves It. And we're fortuanate that 1) its possible for Bryan to take sick time from work to stay home with Landon when he's sick and 2) that Bryan will do that.

They had a grand day yesterday. After 2 and a half hours at the doctor's office, they went over to Target to fill the scripts. Then over to Chick-fil-a and finally back home. Bry said Landon never got tired, just climbed all over him all afternoon. I got home after work, and Lan had yet to take a nap. LOL. Both Bry and Lan looked totally exhausted.

And yet, Bry's home with him today. They took a bath together this morning; when I left for work, they were headed out to get some "pigs in a blanket" and donut holes. Hopefully Lan will eat something today. He has been drinking plenty of milk, so at least he's getting some calories in.

Bryan's great. I know he tells long, detailed (very long) stories. And he always has to finish his thought, no matter what. And sometimes he says things without thinking about exactly what he's saying. But he is awesome. An awesome husband and an awesome dad. And I'm very lucky. Extremely lucky to have him. And so is Landon.

Short Story Collection

Spiked Hair
Lan and I were playing in the pool.
Mama: "Let me spike your hair"
Lan: "No spike hair, I spike your hair!"
And he grabs a chunk of my hair in one hand, and proceeds to hit it with the other hand. "Spiking" it just like a volleyball.

Milk, not water
During the night, Landon asked for 'juice'. Bryan gets up and fills a juice cup with water (our way of discouraging juice in the night.) Lan takes one sip, cries, "No, no, no water, I want milk." Put the juice cup in one hand and spikes it (like a volleyball) with the other hand tossing it out of the bed.

(Notice a vball trend here?)

The Sky is crying
Landon wanted to go outside and swim in the pool one day after work. A rain storm was headed to the house. Miss Cole told Lan that we couldn't go outside cause it was going to rain, that the "sky was going to cry." Lan looked at her, looked at me...the saddest face I've ever seen. He ran over to me bawling. We then convinced him the sky wasn't crying, it was just rain.

Landon talks non stop now. All. The. Time.
"Mama, watcha doin?"
"Mama, who's that guy?",
"Mama, watch this.",
"Mama, that's a girl",
"Mama, I a monkey",
"Mama, don't you get me."
"Mama, get me!"
"Mama, I go water"
"Hey Guys, watch this."
"where Daddy go?"
"There he is"
"Daddy, don't get my sugars"

I love this age. Well, I've loved every age. He is so much fun.

Feeding the Ducks

Last week, Miss Cole had some extra bread, so we picked up the boys and went back to JSC to feed the ducks, turtles, and fish out by the pond. The boys had a great time!

Happy Father's Day!

A Dad is a person who is loving and kind,
And often he knows what you have on your mind.
He's someone who listens, suggests, and defends.
A dad can be one of your very best friends!
He's proud of your triumphs, but when things go wrong,
A dad can be patient and helpful and strong
In all that you do, a dad's love plays a part.
There's always a place for him deep in your heart.
And each year that passes, you're even more glad,
More grateful and proud just to call him your dad!
Thank you, Dad...
for listening and caring, for giving and sharing,
but, especially, for just being you!
Happy Father's Day

Picking Fruit

We found out about an orchard that's apparently been right around the corner the whole time we've lived here.

Although it was hotter than the face of the sun (and we were out there before 10am!) we had a great time. Landon loved picking the blackberries off and popping them in his mouth. We finally convinced him to stop eat ting them until we had paid.

They also had peach trees which we picked from...along with lots of vegetables and herbs, which we didn't go through. It was just getting way too hot.

Then it was home to relax in the pool. LOL - the blow up pool in our backyard. Bry and Lan enjoyed the water, while mom just stayed close by in a chair. My ear is still bothering me, so I didn't want to chance getting

I hiding...

Last night when I got home, Landon was hiding under all the sofa pillows.

Me: "Oh, where's landon, daddy, did you forget him?"
Lan: "I hiding mommy."
Me: "I don't know where Landon is...anybody see him."
Lan: "I hiding!"

LOL...

Weekend Recap

Friday, Bry got Landon and his buddy Maddox out of school a little early and we met up with them at the movies. Kung Fu Panda was hilarious. Bry, Mel and I cracked up almost the entire movie. The boys liked it too. Landon announced during it that he had to go potty, so up we went. And yes, he did have to go. Then it was back to the movie, where he pretty much was a monkey for the last 30 minutes.

Saturday, I was awoken to Landon saying "jodie, jodie, jodie" Huh? "I'm mommy, remember." "No, no mommy, you jodie." LOL...okay.

Bry let me go shop and get my hair done, well, he didn't actually know I was getting my hair done. (And by the way, it is so super cute!) When I finally got home, I was informed that Landon had wrestled Bry all day. Which was pretty much evident by Landon hiding inside Bryan's shirt (saying the Joker was going to get him.)

Lan went to Maddox's house while we attended a friend's wedding. I'm sure he had a great time, but decided to wake up and play once we picked him up (around 11:00!) And then proceded to get up at 7:30 Sunday morning!

He did really well with the potty all weekend. We're not actively forcing potty training, but ask in regular intervals if he wants to go. Sometimes he does, sometimes he doesn't.

We went to the pool yesterday also. Landon LOVES water. And the boy is fearless. We have to be very "aware." Cause he'll jump off whether someone's there or not. We almost had an icidence, he jumped in 'near' Mr. Danny, but not close enough for Danny to catch him and went under. Luckily, he was under when we all did the "Ahhh..." when he came up he was just all smiles, thinking he was such a big boy.

Oh, and he totally hates the number 3. I have no idea why. But he will NEVER say three. 1-2-4-5-6-7-8-9-10, no 3. never a 3.

I love my family

We had a nice weekend. Landon has been using the potty more and more. It helps if we're proactive about it, so we've been working on it too.

We decided to take him to the zoo on Saturday. We got there early, knowing it was going to be a very hot day. Wasnt' too crowded at first, but it did get busier and way hot. We had walked through everything and were out of there by 11:30. Since Landon had poo'ed in the potty, we let him pick out a toy. He decided on a fox, which he calls Stiper, (as in Swiper from D.ora.) He also got a big dopey eyed tiger (it was on sale.)

Went home, took a long nap and got ready for dinner at the V's. Landon had a great time playing with Maddox and Seth, and only a few incidents involving a truck that seemed to be everyone's want.

Sunday we got up, Landon decided he wanted to wear Superman pj's out (which I agreed to), we went to the doughnut shop - Landon picked out a pink glazed one, of course. Then on to shopping at Target and Walmart. Back to the house...Bry blew up the pool; Landon and I played in it most of the afternoon. We finally decided to go inside and have lunch, and a LONG, LONG nap. We found step stools in the dollar area at Target, Landon loves them. He was up on top of them in his Superman pj's - he'd tell us exactly what he was wearing, then he'd jump off and pretend to fly around the living room. Then he used the step stools for tables, then used them to get on the couch, on the bed, he's been carrying them around with him every where.
