Landon's Haircut

Overall, not a bad experience, I guess.

We took Landon to Cool Cuts for Kids to get his first hair cut. He LOVED the Lego table and Thoma.s the Tr.ain table. And he loved driving the little yellow cab. What he didn't love was the out of control 7-8 year old behind him screaming his head off (and dodging the clippers, I might add.) Landon thought for sure they were torturing this kid, which upset Landon. Not to mention, Landon busted his lip on the screw that was sticking out of the steering wheel, where I assume a horn used to be. (Yes, we filed a report with them.)

So here's the chronological pictures of his adventure.

And finally, after the haircut (wish you could see his hair all spiked up.)

List

I took this idea from Sugar and Ice

Here's my list of things I couldn't live without:

Boppy. I thought this was stupid. How could I not hold my own son by myself. LOL. Day 3, went to Target, bought the Boppy.

Bumpy Names
These are so neat. We special ordered Landon's name and I plan on getting some for our new nephew too.

Bath tub seat. Amazing. For a while, we actually took baths with Landon. You can imagine what a pain that would be. Then I tried the sit on the side and hold him. That worked until he realized he could stand up in the bathtub. This seat is great. He loves it and it saves my back.

The Bumbo! Awesome. It took forever to find one in a store. Target finally started carrying them.

Graco Snap n Go.

Playtex Bottles

Medela Pump N Style

Bouncy Chair

Land's End Do it All Diaper Bag. We've had so many compliments on this bag. Its awesome. I'm thinking about getting the Little one for Christmas.

Hook on High Chair. This is awesome. We use it everywhere we go. And it folds up easy to take along. No more nasty restaurant high chairs.

Diaper Dekor from BRU. It's great. No smelly diapers.

Pack N Play. We are using my sister's. I didn't think Landon would ever stay in this, but he loves it now. We have it in our bathroom, so he plays in there while we get ready in the mornings.

Plastic Lined Bibs. Okay, being a new mother, I didn't think it really mattered. That was until Landon started teething. After the first day when he came home with a soaking wet bib, soaking wet shirt, I realized the difference.

Baby Einstein Bouncer

Walker or Exersauser

Walmart Preemie Clothes.
Walmart was the best (most inexpensive) place for preemie outfits. Surprisingly they had a lot to choose from. The were also the only place around that carried preemie diapers.

Gerber Newborn Pacifiers. We tried EVERY SINGLE pacifier out there. Landon was so tiny when he was born, this is the only one he would take. He still loves it, though not as much as before.

That's my list for now. I'm sure there's ton more that I could think of.

Growing up too fast

Landon is growing up so fast! I just can't believe it.

This weekend we went shopping with our friend Nicole. We found one of those cute little chairs for toddlers. I let Landon down to see if he liked it, and guess what, he stood all on his own for about 30 seconds. LOL. We made him do it again and again. So now he pulls up on everything and tries to let go. He doesn't stay up very long. He's also loves to jump ('bounce') He has a exersaucer at school that bounces, so he wants to bounce on everything. The grocery cart, my lap, his seat in Sunday school, his car seat, on the dogs.

Also, he has mastered crawling forward. It's still more of commando style crawl, but he gets there. He pretty much gets anywhere he wants now. And won't stay still for anything. This makes bed time difficult. Previously, when he would wake up, we could go in, pat him and sing and he'd go back to sleep, now he knows how to raise his head up, pull himself over to the side and tries to get up. As you can imagine, it makes getting him back to sleep a little difficult.

We bought a Baby Einstein video this past week. We played it and I thought there's no way this will keep his attention. But guess what, he loves watching it! That and Bear in the Big Blue House. He will actually sit for almost 30 minutes just absorbing the sounds, names, songs from those shows.

(As I sit here and type, I’m watching Landon stand up and 'bounce' in daycare. He'll bounce until he falls on his bottom, then pulls him self back up and bounces some more.)

Christmas Pictures

Here's a few pictures our friend Nicole took last night. They turned out really great.

Moving more forward...lol

First, thanks for all the comments on the diapers. I'm going to the store tonight to get size 5s. Hopefully that will help.

The fourth tooth is out and his little bites hurt pretty bad now. Especially when he just gets the top layer of skin. It is SO hard not to react, like jerking him off and yelling ouch. Instead, its a calm, "no biting" and here's a toy to chew on.

We played volleyball last night. Nicole watched Landon at the gym. We laid out a few of those gymnastic mats for him to crawl on...he definitely has the backwards crawl done. But he also moved forward. He basically grips with his hands to pull himself, then pushes off with his toes. I'm confindent he'll have it down by the weekend. And I'm not sure that's a good thing. =-)

Today, he has pictures with Santa at his school. I have a meeting at that time, so I don't get to see it. I hope he's not scared. I left him and Bryan asleep in bed this morning. They were too cute together. My two snorers.

Moving Forward

Okay, so just a little forward. Landon crawled about two knee movements forward. He can move like lightening backwards, but yesterday was the first time he went forward on his knees.

His fourth tooth is coming in also. Now he grinds his teeth, which I'm sure feels good on the gums where his tooth is coming in, but, oh, that sound.

Okay, at night, he's going through diapers like crazy! He gets a diaper around 8:00, right before bed time. Around 11 I change him because if I don't he'll wake up soaked. But the last three nights, he's gone through the diaper before 10:30! That means new pajama's, new sheets, new mattress cover. Then we have to get him back to sleep. Any ideas?

Top Tooth

Landon's top tooth is through the gums. So we're up to three teeth now.

He's all over the place. I watched him online today, he was so quick. Even Mrs. Aida was telling me she couldn't keep up with him. We'd been kind of lazy about buckling him into swings, bouncy seats, etc. Not any more. That kiddo tries to stand up every chance he gets. I moved the pack n play into the bathroom (he had been sitting in his bouncy chair while we got ready.) I think the pack n play will be better for him now.

I have some cute pictures of him and Bry in front of the tree. I'll have to post those when I get a chance.

This weekend is Dicken's on the Strand. Its still pretty cold here, so I don't think we'll be taking Landon down for it this year. Maybe next year, or the next, or...lol. Oh, I just remembered Kohl's is having a big sale tonight. Bryan's out at the grocery store picking up dinner. Maybe I'll head out after we eat.

Standing

Landon can now pull himself up to standing in his crib. And he's very confident about it. I only had my camera phone, so the picture's not great quality.

He also had pizza for the first time last night. Well, actually he just gnawed on the crust while mom and dad ate. (Again, camera phone.)

It was about 75 degrees when we dropped him off at daycare today, but its only going to be 30+ when I pick him up. That's crazy. We found a coat yesterday at Baby Depot, I couldn't believe how hard it was to get a coat. We also found his Christmas outfit. A snowman sweater from Children's Place and some corduroy's from Carters. And a little snowman bib.

Here's some other great pictures. He is just growing up too fast.
Landon eating a biter biscuit - those things are so gummy.

And Landon in the bath, playing with Mr. Frog.

Here Comes December!

This is where I would typically post Landon's Thanksgiving pictures, but guess what, our battery died before I could take the first picture.

We woke up Thursday morning, played around for a while, watched the Macy's parade. Then I made some gingerbread men, a cheese dip and I tried my hand at my mom's caramel corn. Apparently the recipe that works in West Texas doesn't quite work down here. It never would really caramelize. So we ended up with something more like taffy corn.

We had lunch at my cousin's house in Sugarland. Landon LOVED the hardwood floors. He could turn and move so easily. And he had a great time playing with his cousin Lizzie. I don't think she was too happy when he kept trying to grab the candyland board game. She told me that we "really definitely should buy him this game."

Lunch was delicious. Everything was so great. And there was so much, I almost didn't finish my sweet potatoes (since I save them for last.) We had a great time laughing and chatting, watching Landon. Landon, Lizzie and I went out back after dessert to pick up pecans. We only found a few, since they'd already been out there and collected all of them. Lizzie wanted to know if we had pecan trees at our house. I said no, just pear trees. She said she knew how to grow pecan trees and that we should try it so we could have pecans next year. She said to get a pecan and plant it and then we would have a tree that had pecans on it. That we also needed to water it. I asked if we needed to feed the tree and she replied, "yeah, probably bird feed or something."

We left Kim's early to head to Nicole's house. They had finished up dinner there and were watching a movie, waiting for dessert. Kim H. and I played with Landon, he was pretty sleepy by then, so he wasn't too interesting. Then it was home for a bath and bed.

On Friday, Bryan put up the lights on the house. I had the Christmas tree up and decorated. We actually went out to the stores, Target and Walmart, neither were very crazy. I think we walked out with a rattle for Landon and that's about it.

I put up half the lights in the bushes yesterday, I'll have to finish the rest today. We bought a motion detector light which Bryan installed last night. We also found a tree skirt to match our decorations. And Bryan got up lighting for the front of the house. I guess he'll be working on that this weekend.

Landon update: He's now weighing 19 pounds 6 ounces. He's in 12 month clothing. His bottom two teeth are completely out. His top right is working its way out. He can say "Mama, Dada, Daddy, Puppy, Ball, Goya and Ga, ga, ga" Bryan thinks he's trying to say Gator (as in Florida Gators.) He's eating finger foods, drinking from a bottle or a sippy cup. Eating three meals a day. Sleeping through the night (8:30 - 6:30.) Pulling up on stuff, crawling (more like scooting) backwards. The boy is like a monkey. He laughs pretty much all the time. And always wants to know where Mama and Daddy are, and if they're both in sight, he has to know what the puppies are doing.

I'm heading to the mall today. I've got to find a Christmas outfit for Landon. And I've been looking everywhere for Christmas pajamas. Hopefully we can get pictures done this week and have them ready to mail next week.

Landon Pulled Up

Good thing we have a four day weekend. We'll need all four days to baby proof our house. Landon learned how to pull himself up to standing.

Last night, I needed to change the laundry over to the dryer. I sat Landon in the empty laundry basket while I moved the clothes, I feel something on my leg and look over to see Landon standing up, holding on to the top of the basket. I thought maybe he just got lucky, so I let him try it again on the baby gate. Yep, he can do it. Thus the baby proofing.

We bought Landon a little toboggan (winter hat) yesterday. Its orange and blue and looks like a dinosaur. Its been cold here in the mornings, so I wanted something to cover his little ears. He didn't mind too much this morning, but flung his mittens off as soon as we got in the car.

Landon's also started a new ritual. Dirty Diapers in the morning. Can't he wait til he gets to daycare? LOL. Nope, every morning, right after I get him dressed. Little stinker (literally.)

Big Boy Jammies

Landon's Grandma bought him some big boy PJs. You know the kind with the white footies for traction. We decided to get 12 month, so he could wear them into the winter months.

HAHAHAHA!

I put them on last night, and guess what, they fit. He's just growing up too fast.
Here's a picture of Landon and Mason (our cocker spaniel.)

Here's the pictures of Landon falling asleep after dinner.

And this is just a cute picture from this morning. Bry and Landon were playing a little football before work.

Weekend with Grandma and Grandpa

We had a great weekend (no I'm not being sarcastic.) It was actually very nice. They spoiled Landon beyond belief. I think he even started to say Ga-mmm. It seems like we were out all weekend, though now that I think about it, I can't really think what we did.

On Saturday, Landon and I stayed home to eat supper while Bry went out with his parents. The boy fell asleep in his high chair. I know you see those video's all the time. Yeah, it was that hilarious. Instead of taking him out and laying him down, I ran and got the camcorder. I took a pic, I'll have to post it when I get them uploaded.

We spent Bry's birthday (Monday) in the dentist office. All day. We all had our teeth cleaned, then Mark worked on Bryan's Dad's mouth the rest of the day. Poor guy, had two extractions. We went out to eat at Chili's when we finally got back to our side of town (around 8:30.) Instead of putting Landon in a high chair, we put him in a booster seat between Bry and me. Oh man, he loved it. He was right at table height. He was going crazy. Laughing, squealing, grabbing menus, napkins, my fajita pita. He crashed by the time we got home.

He loves playing peek-a-boo. I put a diaper rag on his head and he pulls it off. Now, he lets it sit there for a while and I can hear him laughing. He is just so much fun.

Wave Bye Bye

Landon is just getting so big. It just amazes me everyday.

He's doing awesome sleeping through the night. And, oh my gosh, he's just too cute in the morning. Bry's off work today and his parents are in town. I got up early, didn't sleep well last (headache.) So I went in to check on Landon before I left. He does the cutest thing in the morning. He's always on his tummy. When you go in the room, he lifts his head and tilts it all the way back with a big smile on his face. Maybe I'll get this on camera. I love it. He's just so happy to see me in the morning.

I made breakfast while Bry took a shower. Oatmeal and prunes. Yummy. Bryan came in as we were finishing up and helped Landon with some Banana puffs. As I was getting ready to leave, saying Bye-Bye to Landon. He lifted his little chubby hand and waved bye! I run to get the camera, and yep, he stops. Little stinker.

I'm sure he's having fun with Grandma and Grandpa right now.

Poo Poo Time Out

Let me start by saying that Nicole is a great friend! She watches Landon every Tuesday night so Bry and I can play volleyball. Every. Tuesday.

This week's story: Landon's been great, had his bananas and strawberries, just sittin on the mats with Nicole over by the bleachers. First point in volleyball, good. We get ready to serve the second point, and I hear, "Jodie! Jodie!" I look over, and
Nicole says, "We've had an explosion."
Jodie: "What?"
Nicole: "An Explosion!"

At which point she turns Landons back to me and the poor baby has poop all up his back. Poor guy.

Jodie: "Time out, time out."
Ref: "Oh my gosh, yeah, go, time out, go, go"

LOL. We got Landon all cleaned up and he was happy the rest of the match.

First Word!!!

Well, besides Goya - which Landon repeats when he falls asleep...the baby said "Puppy!"

In fact, he said, "puppy, puppy" then Bryan and I went crazy and tried to get him to repeat it...he just started laughing.

Then he started saying "pup, pup, pup, pup"

Oh man.

Halloween

Landon enjoyed his first Halloween. We got home, had some oatmeal, sweet potatoes, prunes and cheerios - sounds like a good dinner, huh. Then we suited up, took pictures and headed out. The lady across the street had a table set up with candy. She ooh'ed and aah'ed over Landon who just stared back at her like "get me out of this costume." She told Landon to come over anytime for cookies, that she had a "grandmother's house" and would always have a treat for him. Next was our next door neighbor. Landon wanted to play in her candy bowl. All the shiny chocolate candy wrappers looked great to him.

We went by Danny's, Landon sat for a while there, trying to eat through a Twix package. Then to our friend, Nicole's house. He fell asleep after that, and was zonked out for two other friend's houses (both whom had already run out of candy.)

We changed him to his pj's and put him in bed. He never woke up. In fact, Bryan went in around 4 to check on him. He slept all the way until 6:30 this morning. Maybe we should go trick or treating every night!

Family Weekend

My sister and mother came in this weekend. We did a 5k on Saturday and a half marathon relay on Sunday. Landon was great the whole time! It was pretty cold here this weekend, so he got to bundle up in his little Florida Gator ski suit. He was just TOOOO Cute.

The 5k on Saturday was at the zoo, so we stayed after the race and walked through all the exhibits. Landon loved the meercats and the monkeys. He'd watch them run all over thier cages.

He LOVED having Jill and Mom there. He kept wanting to give Jill hugs and kisses.

7 Month Checkup

Yes, I realize it was supposed to be a 6 month check up, but...

Landon was 17 pounds 12 ounces, 27.5 inches long, and I don't remember his head circumference. He was still under the 50 percentile on his weight, but almost 70% on his height.

And he gets to start eating lunch. LOL. We'd only been doing the baby food for breakfast and dinner, so now he'll get another meal - plump that baby up.

Two shots (one for flu.) He did great. Just a small startle cry.

Sleep or No Sleep

Landon was great yesterday. We picked him up, he fell asleep on the way home. Bryan rocked him while I got ready (from my run.)

Landon finally woke up, we picked up Danny and headed out to Kemah, yummy Saltgrass. Landon had fun flirting with all the girls. He ate his oatmeal and mixed vegetables (gnasty) and fell asleep in his high chair.

We put him in bed when we got home and he slept until about 11. When he wakes up crying. So I pick him up, bring him to the living room and rock him, give him some more bottle, some teething tablets and he sleeps.

Then its the waking up screaming thing all over again. From about midnight until 2:30. He was awake though this time. We did all we could think of until 1:30 when I decided he was definitely overtired by this time and just needed sleep. So I put him in his crib, turned on his music and his humidifier (white noise + moisture.) Went in at 5 minutes, he's still crying. Stayed with him a minute - he was SO tired. Kept crying. Went in after 10 minutes. Still crying, but not as hard, he was getting to tired. Bryan went in after another 10 minutes, still crying. Finally, an hour later, Bryan just went in and covered him up - he was asleep. He slept from 2:30 until we woke him up this morning at 8 to leave for day care.

I felt horrible last night, but I just think he doesn't know how to fall asleep by himself. And that is not a good thing. After him crying with us for that long, I knew 1) he wasn't hungry 2) he didn't have gas 3) he didn't want his paci 4) he didn't care about us holding him 5) his diaper was dry 6) he was at a good temperature 7) his teeth are fine. So now we're committed. We're going to keep it up for the next few nights. Hopefully he'll start sleeping in his crib.

Nightmares?

So, I've read that infants aren't capable of having nightmares. After last night, I would have to disagree. Landon woke up screaming. Not even crying, he was past the crying. He screamed. Then he moved on to the huge sobs. We couldn't get him to wake up. It was so sad. So. Sad. I just hugged him, rubbed his back, tried to talk to him, sing to him. Mason and Maddie (the dogs) tried to comfort him. I took all his clothes off thinking maybe something was biting him - nothing. Changed his diaper, nothing. After about 15 minutes (long enough that Bryan got online and looked up infant nightmares) he fell asleep. He woke up about an hour and a half later, same thing. I stripped him down again, changed his diaper. Finally, he took a bottle and fell asleep, naked. We woke up at 4:30 on a wet sheet, so we changed again, then moved Bryan to the side of the bed and slept in the middle.

Of course, the boy wakes up happy this morning. And Dad and Mom still aren't awake.

Kim watched him last night at volleyball since Nicole's in Germany. He was awesome with her. I was nervous, but he was on his best behaviour. Bwah ha ha...trick her into wanting babies!

Landon Waved!!

Yep! Last night, I came in from my run, Bryan was holding Landon and he started waving to me! How cute is that.

This weekend was Lizzie's Halloween "Birthday" Party. Aside from the heat and mosquitoes, it was great. All the kids had a great time. Kim and Katie went out of control. There was a moonwalk for the kids to jump in, a scavenger hunt behind the house, a popcorn machine, sno cones, each kid decorated a picture frame for their costume picture, cupcakes, a beautiful pumpkin cake, hotdogs, etc. Landon definitely enjoyed it. He thought all the kids were yelling and talking to him so he spent a lot of time squealing back at them. Our pictures of his costume didn't turn out well, so I'll have to scan the one Kim shot. I think Lizzie was definitely pleased with her 'birthday' party. (And she wanted Landon to wear all her Little Mermaid costume jewelry at church yesterday.

We had a cold front come through last week...it was awesome. Just to make his dad proud...Our little Florida Gator:
