12 Month Checkup

Landon went to the pediatrician yesterday. He's 20 pounds, 3 ounces and 29.5 inches long. Which puts him somewhere around the 15th percentile for weight and 45th percentile for height. I don't know the measurement on his head, but it was in the 75th. (He's got his dad's head, for sure.)

We're having a crawfish boil tomorrow with some friends. I have a plan for a birthday cake, crossing my fingers it works out. If not, we'll be running down to the grocery store before the party.

We took him to get his fourth, yes, fourth haircut. His hair is SO thick. He looks so grown up with his big boy haircut. And he's always so well behaved at the salon. What a gentleman.

Dad took him shopping yesterday. They found an Easter shirt and vest at Carters. They also went by BRU and found a basketball goal perfect for Landon's height. And they got a lawn mover for Landon too.

Happy Birthday Baby!!

I can't believe it's been a year. Landon's one!

He's so grown up.
He's now walking and talking, telling us the cow says "mmmmm's" and the car's go "vrrmmmm"
He knows birds, cats, dogs, cows, balls, books, piggies (toes)
He has learned to push his tables over to the couch and then crawls on them to climb on to the couch.
He loves to chase the dogs.
He likes to brush his teeth.
He knows to get the dog toys and throw them for the Mason and Maddie to fetch.
He loves pancakes and oatmeal and Grandma Rhodes pound cake.
He likes to get on his knees in the bath tub so he can drive his shuttle around the water.
He loves walking on the grass and picking flowers from the bushes.
He can clap and play peek-a-boo.
He loves to pretend to sneeze.
He whispers to himself while he plays.
He'll go with anyone who's going outside.
He says "ahh" after he drinks from his sippy cup.
He calls his paci a 'ma' (as in maci, I guess.)
He still loves to play with Mama's hair to go to sleep.
He drinks rice milk, apple juice, ice tea and loves to put his hands in mama's ice.
He can dance and jump - which are both essentially the same movement.
He loves Daddy's red and blue volleyball.

He's learned so many things and grown up so much. I can't believe how little he once was.

He went from this tiny baby who didn't even fit in his preemie clothes

To this big one year old who loves to learn and explore.

Happy Birthday Landon!!

PS (And Happy Birthday to Baby L!!)

364 days old

One more day...one more day...one more day. I can't believe it.

In the last year, there are so many things that have surprised me, made me happy, made me sad, made me realize how blessed I am, made me realize how much I could love someone. Landon has changed our lives, as do all kids. It still amazes me how much love can fill my heart each time I look at him. Okay, that's as sappy as I'll get today.

Almost a year, and Landon is still in our bed. Yes, I know. You don't have to tell me. But I enjoy him in there. Even after nights where he pulled my hair or head butted me, to see him smiling an inch from my face when I open my eyes - oh my gosh, I love that boy.

But I realize, for our sanity and his maturity, we need to get him in his own bed. He did sleep pretty well in his bed for a while...then he got sick, so we moved him back to our bed. Now we'll have to go through that all over again. Do we try the cry it out? He usually ends up puking when we do that? Do we move his crib into our bed (bedroom - meant to say bedroom thanks Courtney...lol)? Do I sleep in his room? I just don't know.

In other news, the little monkey has learned to push his Lego table over to the couch or ottoman, climb on the table, stand up and walk over to climb up on to the furniture. Yesterday I caught him trying to climb onto his little Leapfrog piano thingy. Also, he got stuck under the dining room table yesterday morning. I think he went in there after the dogs. Totally a boy.

Rodeo

We went to the Hou.ston Ro.deo on Friday. Got there around 3ish and walked through the pavillion. Landon LOOOOOOVVVVVVVEEEEDDDDDDDD the show animals. He was trying so hard to climb into the goat pens. He kept calling all the rabbits 'Cats.' And all the cows were 'dogs.' But he finally picked up the 'mooing' sound as the night went on.

He watched the rodeo - he loved seeing all the horses...then he fell asleep during the di.erks ben.tley concert. It was a great night. And didn't take us too long to get out of there.

Beach

We went down to Galveston on Thursday afternoon. Had lunch at some hole in the wall oyster bar, then walked the Strand. Landon fell asleep as we hunted for a place on the beach. He finally woke up and was NOT happy about getting his feet in the freezing cold Gulf water. Understandable, I guess. LOL.

Then he held on to Mama for dear life.

And finally took a bottle to calm down.

But the cousins had a great time.

After the beach, we came home to a huge pile of mulch and dirt. We had dirt/mulch delivered two weeks ago, but apparently someone didn't mark off that we received it, so we got double delivered. They gave it to us for free...and its still sitting there.

Clapping and Family Visit

First of all, Landon clapped yesterday. This was the first time he's clapped on his own, just out of the blue, he starts clapping. Now he loves it. He did it all night last night. He's always cracked up when I clap his hands together during patty cake, but he never really tried it on his own. He's SO cute.

My dad, stepmom, brother....Sister, her husband and their three kids are all visiting this week. We've had a great time. Yesterday we went to Galveston. It was nice and warm, but the water was coooooollllldddd. Landon did NOT like mom putting his feet in the water. He screamed and screamed, and then held on to me like his life depended on it the rest of the time we were there.

Oh, and my dad uses snuff...he took Landon outside and they were walking around. He said, he would hold Lan back, lean forward and spit...pretty soon, Landon was trying to lean forward and spit too. Great. LOL.

And we ate dinner on our dining room table. All 11 of us. We just had hot dogs, but still it was neat to see everyone sitting there.

We're headed to the rodeo tonight. It'll be lots of fun.

Still here

I'm still here...just boring, that's all.

Landon still fighting the walking thing. If he wants to walk he'll walk. If we want him to show someone he can walk, he makes his body limp and acts like wet spaghetti. He is definitely learning he can make decisions that are totally different from the decision mom makes for him.

He's climbed in his Tupperware cabinet, along with the fridge. Yep, right up in the fridge. He's everywhere now. He loves making dad throw the dog toys for the dogs to fetch. And thinks it hilarious when he gets on the dog bed with Mason. Mason just 'huffs' him and tries to find some where else to sleep.

The last two nights, Landon's decided to wake up around 4am and just play in bed. In our bed, that is. He finally fell asleep this morning around 6...and then was out.

He's talking a lot more...just gibberish, but man does he have something to say. We can kind of understand, "No, No" "hush" "nother" "bottle" "bear" "ball" and more "no no"

He's mastered the "Denise the Menace" go limp ploy. He threw a fit last weekend because I took him out of a big pile of dirt. He was loving playing in that dirt...and what a mean mother I was to take him out...He's definitely a boy.

Really Walking

Landon started really walking last night. Yeah, he'd walk before, but last night, he just walked to walk. It started at the gym, after our volleyball game. He would walk between Bryan and me, and turn around and everything. Then he was walking in his room last night. I can't wait to get home today and play with him.

We also got his birthday present this weekend (yes it's a few weeks early.) We bought the Little Tikes Kangaroo Climber with a slide. Oh my gosh - he loves it. I'll have to get video of Landon sliding. His face is great!

Not much else to report. I've been out two days with a horrible kidney infection. Trying to get back on track now.

Ear Update

Doctor's appointment today. And the ears looked good. She said there was still a little fluid in there, but it was clear, so that's good. She wanted me to think about doing prophylactic antibiotics. Where basically, he'll get a small dose of antibiotics everyday for 60 days! Bryan and I will discuss it tonight, but I don't really know what to do here.

Also, we've switched over to Rice Milk. Bryan and I both had milk allergies when we were babies, along with most of Landon's cousins, so we just went straight to Rice Milk...and he loves it. Actually, Bryan said he liked it better than real milk too. LOL.

The birthday planning has started. We're doing a rubber ducky theme with these:

I have a friend who does amazing cookies - she's going to do duck cookies and I'm going to try my hand at a duck cake. We'll see.

Thanks for all the well wishes, thoughts, and prayers while Landon was sick. It feels so good to have support from people I've never even met, yet I know you're out there and you genuinely care. Landon and I thank you!
