My weekend
Spent time this weekend insulating the first floor of our garage. First time I've ever done this. Pretty easy, alot easier than I thought. We've done lots of prep on the garage over the last couple weeks. Bryans outside right now re-wiring, adding outlets.

Sick Baby Girl
One week back at daycare, just one...Kenzie is snotty and green, and isn't eating. Which means she's not feeling well at all. When she gets colds, they quickly navigate to her left eye and it gets all goopy and green. Luckily our pediatrician has walk-in appointments every morning from 8-9. Kenzie talked non-stop from when she woke up until the moment Dr. I came in the room. She was quiet, but thankfully let the doctor listen to her chest, look in her ears/nose/mouth and press on her lymph nodes.
She has a sinus infection, one ear infection and conjunctivitis. Wow. Antibiotics and eye drops and we were out of the doctors office with a $15 copay and 80 cents (antibiotic, free eye drops.) I stayed home with Kenzie all day. She fell asleep right before lunch, and slept for a little over 2 hours. She was really great. In a good mood, not fussy much at all. And she snuggled with me all weekend.

Playing in Castle Granny Foster gave her for Christmas last year.
Teleworking on my computer, with her ribbon off her new Minnie Mouse blanket from Target.
Resting in the waiting room at the doctor's office.

Glasses
After spending time with my sister in WT, she suggested we take Landon in for an eye exam. At his well child, the pediatrician tested him...said it was okay. But we went ahead and scheduled him with our optomoligst.
The glasses came in quickly, maybe a couple days later. At first, he refused to wear them. Said they didn't help, that they made everything blurry. We finally brokered a deal and have gradually increased the time he wears them. Now, he puts them on before playing his DS, without even being prompted. I think he realizes how much they help.
I really wish I would have taken him to get tested before Kindergarden. I wonder how much it would have made a difference in his reading, his writing, his coloring. (Now I know why he always scribbled - he probably couldn't make out the lines!)
The doctor said he may outgrow this, or he may not (it's the opposite of my eyes - I'm near-sighted, and Bryan has 20/20.)
Pictures of Landon in his new glasses, and one of Kenzie wearing her's (Dollar tree glasses with the lenses popped out.)
He was a little nervous at first, but they were very good with him. He loved all the neat machines and was ready for the doctor. He told me he was nervous that he might not pass. Well, he started reading....and then I got nervous. He did okay at first, but then he was saying all the wrong letters. Turns out he is far-sighted. She asked to dilate his eyes so she could do further testing, glad we did because it revealed more than originally thought.
He picked out some glasses while we waited for the next round of testing. He was NOT happy about it. But we found some Adidas frames that were blue and fit his face well. Everyone in the office really helped out. It was hilarious while his eyes were dilated - he tried to pick an app to play on my phone, he asked me why all the apps were disco balls.

Back to Daycare
The kids returned to daycare today. They spent 5 weeks with my niece watching them at our house, then 2 weeks out in New Mexico/West Texas, then two weeks home with my in-laws, and another two weeks with my mom. 11 weeks. Oh what a grand summer it was for them. We are so lucky everything worked out the way it did and they were able to spend so much time with family. That really bothers me about living here in Houston...not seeing family often enough. But that's an entirely separate post.
Drop off went perfect yesterday. Kenzie left me standing at the door to go play with dolls and kitchen food. Landon ran to the gym as soon as we got there and was already sitting with his friends when I went in to say goodbye. Landon had a fieldtrip to the downtown Aquarium and was upset I didn't give him money to buy something in the gift shop.
However, after school was a different story. Kenzie was exhausted and hungry. She drank 4 bottles of lemonade when she got home. After swimming and dinner, she passed out in front of the TV at 7:30.
Hopefully drop off tomorrow goes as well, but I'm not counting on it.

Day Care
We were discussing the kids going back to day care (starting next week.) We had briefly talked about switching day cares.
Me: Landon, do you want to go back to Kids R Kids, or do you want to go look at Kiddie Academy?
Landon: Do they have things to play with there? (At Kiddie Academy?)
Me: Yes, it would be just like KRK.
Landon: And they have cats?
Me: What? No.
Landon: Then why do they call it Kitty Academy?

Campers? Panthers?
As we were pulling
up to the house last night, Bryan says: There's pampers on the porch.
Landon: why do we have campers on our porch?
Bryan: PAMPERS, not campers
Landon: O-M-G, there are panther's on our porch!?
