Week 35 and Waterpark

Week 35 - nothing new. I'm really not sleeping at all now. I just can't seem to get comfortable and it takes me about 10 minutes to roll over. I'm mostly sleeping in the La-Z-Boy now that Bryan has moved it to the bedroom. Prevacid is barely working now and I'm using tums in addition to it on most days. I finished the canopy for the car seat and I'll go ahead and brag - it is way cute!

Waterpark

Last summer we bought year passes to Schlitterbahn in Galveston. We've gone the last three weekends - Landon is in heaven. That boy can SWIM! I have to say to, it's nice being weightless in the water...feels so good to get pressure off of everything.
The first weekend, it was just Bryan, Landon and I - even with a company picnic (not ours) being held there, there was barely anyone there - no waits in the lines. It was perfect.

Last weekend, Mr. Danny went with us and it was still great - no crowds. Landon wanted to swim with Mr. Danny the whole time. He loves to go on the river - the wave part, but he doesn't want to be in a tube, he wants to swim it. Which, he does really well, but man, its work for the adults. In between the waves, the water goes down to 2-3 feet and you end up crab walking, great workout on your quads.

On Friday, we took off work and headed down with Miss Nicole. A little bit more crowded - since there were about 15 charter buses with teenagers. Some of the lines to the rides were longer than they have been, but it still was a lot less crowded than summer. Bryan was in charge of swimming with Landon and I corralled Miss Cole to the right directions, although we lost her one time on the rapids for a while. She had gotten caught in the backflow and couldn't get to the next opening.

Yesterday we went to the pool down the road - one of my coworkers used to live in the apartments there, and I programmed her gate code into the Acadia. Unfortunately, in the last year, either my car lost the code or the apartments changed theirs...but another car was going in, so we tailed them and got in. Its a pretty nice pool - saltwater. Going to be sad if we can't get in. (Our subdivision doesn't have a pool, which is okay with me, since that means are homeowners fee is only $200 a year.) Landon can swim. (After three weeks of swim lessons.) He does great. So proud of that boy.

Here's some pics of the water park from the last couple weekends.

Picking Blackberries

We headed out to Fruits 'n Such orchard to pick blackberries and peaches.  Wow!  $45 later...we have a ton of fruit!  I can't imagine going there during the day (they're open some weeknights and Saturdays depending on the produce selection.)  It was extremely hot.  But we survived and as you can see, ended up with a fair share of blackberries and peaches.  The blackberries are delicious!  We just kept picking and picking. We saw so many ripe ones it was hard to pass them up!

Bryan washed them all and we have the first batch in the freezer (we wash them and freeze them on a cookie sheet and then move them to a ziplock bag so that they don't freeze as one big block of blackberry.)

Landon had a great time trying to find the biggest one.  I think he may have ended up eating more than he put in the bucket.

The blahs...

Bryan's in Virginia for the week.  It's actually gone by pretty quickly, thanks to swim lessons, gymnastics and a movie.

I'm almost 33.5 and miserable.  I don't remember being this way with Landon - but that's probably part of God's plan.  If you remembered the uncomfortable - not fun - painful parts of pregnancy, you'd never EVER have a second (or third or fourth) child.  I literally have no room.  I know I've mentioned this before - but you know the feeling when you've eaten too much food and you unbutton or unzip your pants and think - "ahhh" - yeah, well, I need to do that with my stomach.  Seriously.  There is no room.  I feel soooo full, like my stomach skin needs to stretch more, but it just won't.

I'm also to the point in pregnancy where I can not sleep.  I have to wake up to pee or turn over (which takes about 5 minutes) and then I'm wide awake for an hour.  I know that this is prepping me for after the baby gets here...but seriously, I'd rather slam shift it when the time comes.

My feet are also swollen.  I know lots of women who've gotten swollen feet, and I'm sure mine aren't as bad as some, but its like my stomach - the skin just doesn't seem to stretch enough.  And did I mention the dizzy spells?

Okay, okay - enough complaining right?  I'm very excited to meet Ms Mackenzie.  I love looking at all her little clothes.  I have a few more blankets I need to get sewn (quickly!)  I love Landon patting my tummy or giving it a kiss.  I'm just ready for her to get here!

Playing in the rain

We were very close to drought conditions - the north of Harris county was already considered in a drought.  Luckily, we've had two solid days of downpours.  Unfortunately (for Landon and I) this was the weekend for Mud Volleyball.  Bryan got up early and headed out to the pits.  He sent a picture earlier of people, watching, not playing, in mud up to ankles.  Nasty.  Needless to say, Landon and I decided to hang out at home.  Bryan's team came in second place and he should be on his way home.  I'm guessing he'll head straight for the laundry room and then to the showers.

Landon was tired of being cooped up and after playing Scooby Doo board game and Cars dominoes several (hundred) times, we went outside to play in the rain.  He started out fully clothed, in rain boots, but ended up in only shorts, barefoot.  He was loving it.

I remember going with my sisters down to the park where the water drained.  In the small town I grew up in, there wasn't an underground drainage system, the roads simply had slopes so that everything drained down towards the park, which was a block from our house.  When it rained (not frequently...lol) we would go down and wade through the drainage.  Kind of gross now that I think about it.  But it was great at the time.  We loved it.  And lost several shoes during those play times.

Needless to say, it was great to see Landon enjoying the rain today.  Total abandonment.  A very priceless moment.

Rag Quilt Diaper Bag and wipe clutch

I finished the diaper bag I've been working on. I also made a wipes/diaper case. They both turned out great. I love the bag! Not sure how well it'll work for a diaper bag, but it is definitely great!

I have more of this material, some for a blanket (with a beautiful green silk on one side.) And enough to recover the car seat, which I started working on last night - the canopy part.

Mother's Day 2010

Any day spent with my boys is great...mother's day was no different.  We had a garage sale on Saturday, which totally wiped us out.  We were all beyond exhausted.  But now the upstairs above our garage is decluttered, along with several closets.  (The house was still a wreck, but I'll get to that this week sometime.)  Landon was excited to make money so he could get the Ben 10 watch he's been wanting forever.  And I got a 'cake batter' snow cone...mmm!

Bryan and Landon played PS3 while I spent time sewing.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE using Grandma's sewing machine and table.  I finished up the diaper bag I've been working on and made a wipe/diaper clutch to match.  It turned out great.  I love both of them.   (Pictures coming soon.)

We did a little bit of shopping Sunday afternoon - but were too exhausted to get much out of it.  Landon wanted Bryan to build him a playground...LOL, that didn't happen.

I really REALLY really wanted fried green tomatoes and catfish, so we went to Sudie's for dinner.  Don't think I'll be doing that again anytime soon.  While it was very delicious, Bryan and I both were sick after eating so much fried food.  (Did I mention it was delicious?!)

The day was perfect - like most weekends - spent sitting with my family doing nothing.  I love both those boys so much.  Can't imagine life without either one of them.  They are my whole world.

Update:  I forgot to mention that Bryan made me oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. (Yes my life revolves around food - and yes, I'm thankful for prevacid!)

32 Week Appointment

Nothing new today.  Baby's heartbeat was 150.  Dr. N said I'm his last patient due before his July 4th vacation.  LOL.  So, if the baby doesn't come before then, he wrote down today that he'll induce on June 30th.  A little later than I thought, but hopefully MacKenzie will come before then anyway.

He didn't offer much information on my leg cramps - more water, calcium, potassium.  Exercise and stretch (which causes the cramps in the first place! LOL.)

I've gained 30 pounds so far.  (Gained 40 with Landon.)  So with 7 or less weeks less, I should be close to the 40 pound mark.  I'm starting to feel the water retention - swollen fingers, feet, etc.

I've had Braxton Hicks contractions this week.  One night, they were actually pretty bad.  Which made me realize I need to get everything ready for the hospital.  I have a little outfit ready for mackenzie - with socks and a headband/bow. Too cute.  Hopefully I can finish the rag quilt diaper bag I've been (not) working on.

Just Dance!

Check out Mel's Blog to see Landon and his BFF Maddox in a "Just Dance" dance off.

First trip to the Beach

It has been a very nice, cool spring.  This weekend is the first (of many) that it's actually been HOT.  Landon's been begging to go to the beach, and it was finally hot enough to think about it.

After church, we packed up the car and headed to Galveston.  A little worried about finding a spot to park on the beach at our normal location since we didn't get down there until 12:30; it was crowded but we found a nice spot.  The water was still pretty cold...but you didn't notice it after sitting in the sun for a while.  Landon played HARD.  Bryan dug him out a trench, since the tide was high, it filled up pretty quickly.  Then Landon asked for a "pool."

Then Bryan made him a sand gator...which Landon later destroyed while Bryan was out swimming.

We all kept reapplying sunscreen...and I, apparently, did so poorly.  I have a few spots which hurt badly.  But luckily both the boys seem to be in good shape.  I'm sure we'll try to go back as many times as we can before the baby gets here.

League City Fair

Why is it that on Saturday morning, Landon can wake up by himself at 7:00?  And be ready to go?!
We spent some time driving through a local neighborhood garage sale.  Landon found a huge scooby doo doll for $4 (I"m guessing the dad probably spent a good $20 at a carnival trying to win said dog.)

We also stopped at a yard sale, where the man took Landon and I to the back to see a 3 week old Shetland pony.  It was adorable.  I'm so sad I didn't have the camera with me.  (It was the same size - maybe smaller - than the scooby doll.)  Too cute.  Landon was in love with it.

After not much success at the garage sales, we went to the League City Village Fair.  A pricey little Saturday adventure.  Luckily the clouds stayed and there was a nice breeze. We tried to stay in the shade as much as we could, but we all managed to get a little bit of sun.

Landon loved the little petting zoo set up.  Two baby pigs, chickens, rabbits, and lots of goats.  I would have taken the pigs home with me.  They were so cute.

Lan's next favorite thing was the fun house.  It was glass/mirror maze.  We kept trying to tell him to lead with his hands, but the first time through, he busted his head a few times.  By the second time, he had it memorized but was still pretending he didn't know the way.

We payed a few extra dollars to let him do the bungees on the trampoline.  He barely weighed enough to get the jumping working, so one of the workers stayed on the trampoline and bounced him.  He thought that was "awesome."

Of course - I think his favorite part was the either the giant slide with rugs or the playground (at the park.)
He rode the slides about a bajillion times.
We took a break, with some fried pickles and sweet tea while Landon played at the playground.  After that we were already for a shower, water and a long nap.
