Mornings, schmornings

Okay, so I didn't get up this morning to run. My alarm went off at 5:30 and I just couldn't do it. Plus, in my defense, the humidity was higher than yesterday morning, and yeah, I could tell that from the coziness of my bed. Whatever. So my new reasoning is "if its cooler in the morning, it has to be cooler in the afternoon too, right?" So, I have my bag packed (my new bag that I got on clearance at Targ.et 75% off!) and plan to run tonight.

The thing is, I really, really enjoy running. So why have I gone through this dry spell? I have no idea. Pure laziness I guess. And now that I haven't been running, I'm sort of nervous about starting again. Not nervous that anything will happen, just kind of like a pre-race nervousness. Which is totally stupid, but still, my stomach is all knots. It's like being back in high school and waiting all day for a really hard athletic workout. Ugh.

On the cracking front...this diet is very easy, when you have the right food, when you don't have the wrong food, and when you have mostly planned meals. My younger sister reminded me of a recipe my mom used to always make....but she changed it, crack-style. Turkey wienies, slice length-ways, put a sliced dill pickle spear in the middle along with a slice of cheese. Then wrap it all in turkey bacon and secure with a toothpick. Broil in the oven until ready (yeah, don't know the exact time.) Delicious. Oh man, I forgot how much I loved these.

  1. Sounds like a good recipe. Glad the diet is going well. You look great. Don't worry about the run. It will be great. You will need an outlet for all that X2R7 tension.

  3. I know what you mean about being nervous about running after a dry spell. For me, it was, I wonder if I will remember how to run? What if it's as hard as it was when I first started running and couldn't even run for 60 seconds?

I hope you got in that run and now it's all better!

I'm not a pickle eater, so have to pass on that recipe. =) And yep, agree that the diet is all about planning. And then it's easy.

  4. Sounds like a great easy recipe! I'm sure you'll get back to the running. I get the same way and once I start again I can't even imagine why I ever skipped it.

I agree crackin is not so easy if the proper food isn't around.
